What a way to close the first part of the rugby season and kick-off the Festive One! U12s and proud parents showed up in force on the Heath for a mini tournament with Cambridge and Haverhill on 15th December 2024.
Conditions were great for rugby!
Weather: Sunny, warm-ish, no wind. Exactly the opposite of last week's cancelled fixtures. training - a perfect day to play ball.
Pitch: Good-to-soft. Good for running, soft for diving in the try zone.
The boys in black-and-white made everyone proud with great tackling, staunch defending, swift runs and, most of all, flowing rugby playing which was a joy to watch.
Cambridge was always to be a tough opponent and Haverhill, short in numbers but not in commitment, showed great skills as well, helped by our boys who, in the true spirit of the rugby community, volunteered to help the claret & blues fielding a solid 12-man squad.
Good play and wins came hand-in-hand in a great display of rugby with many try scorers and assists. For the lovers of power-rugby, the great commitment of the Crows in training bore fruit in powerful and purposeful rucking resulting in frequent turnovers. With tries a plenty for many of the team, it is the assists and defensive commitment that need the recognition - well done to everyone who set a team mate up for the score!
So, ‘Twas the last game before Christmas, but a lot of stirring all through the pitch, with the hanging stockings full of great rugby and tries not a vision, and more than a glitch.
So, Happy Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night!
