Under 9 season review 2014-2015

WOW!!

what a year,
we as coaches have enjoyed every minute of this season,
we have seen the kids make the transition from tag to contact and simply revel in it,
we have maintained our playing numbers at 30 and more importantly have kept the element of fun in the coaching sessions so the kids have learnt whilst enjoying themselves,
playing wise its been an incredible season,
we started the year winning the North Herts Festival at A team level, We also won the North Herts @ B Team Level,
it was a thrilling moment for us all as coaches and parents to see both squads playing so brilliantly and both have the satisfaction of claiming silverware
we then played a series of mixed ability matches against our traditional rivals through to early jan,
we then made the daunting trip to Old Albanians, the rugby played was simply fantastic, our A stream beat their B1, A1 and A2 sides, our B team competed well and won as many as they lost and our C team had a great day which was as much about learning and having fun as winning - and for that we must thank Old Albanians for being such good hosts,
we then played county champs Wendons ambo, we played a series of mixed matches then a Streamed fixture at the end, we knew Wendons were good, so it was with great satisfaction another win was recorded for Royston, credit must be paid to wendons as they are the side that have pushed us the hardest this year, as they are both a good defensive unit but pass the ball well too
with these wins under our belts we headed confidently into festival season - in brief summary -
we won the Cambridgshire county cup,
we won the Saracens elite festival @ Bramley road,
we won the vase at the wendons mixed ability festival,
we finished our season against local rivals Letchworth another strong defensive side at our age grade,
our A's played theirs and won 40-15 on aggregate, to maintain their undefeated season, our B's had some cracking matches and narrowly lost out 20-15, our C stream had a fun morning but unfortunatley lost the first fixture quite heavily and your correspondant does not have enough fingers to add up the scores,
all in all a simply outstanding season, we hope the kids all enjoyed and look forward to next years rule changes, and we would welcome anyone who wishes to join our group of talented, happy chirpy kids next season
