The first game got off to a rocky start as Shelford bagged two tries in as many minutes, but Ruiari
soon got things back on track with a fabulous try of his own. Moments later a pin-point accurate pass
from Rowan saw Ruiari go over for his second, and from then it was all smooth sailing with our young
crows delighting their watching parents and grandparents with some wonderful rugby.
Royston Rugby Club are known as the Crows, but the u7s certainly didn’t find their way to the try line
‘as the crow flies’ at Cambridge. That didn’t matter however as they all had huge smiles on their
faces, no matter which direction they were flying.
The second game against Ely Tigers saw Ruby score her debut try of the season, and what a beauty
it was. The jubilant cheers from proud dad Coach Craig would have been heard from the changing
rooms as Ruby dotted the ball down after a jinking run down the blind side.
More excellent running from Charlie and Ruben led to fantastic tries for each, while Rowan held the
defensive line firm whenever the opposition got the ball.
Ruben opened the scoring in third game against Wendens Ambo with a fantastic barnstorming try,
running the length of the pitch with his teammates cheering him on in support. Ruiari thrilled the
crowds again with his weaving runs, and Rowan and Charlie both displayed impressive passing skills,
despite the chilly temperature and cold hands.
Our young crows fly to Letchworth on 3 rd November next, and I can’t wait! Please contact
